The Department of Political Science at Ewing Christian College is committed to excellence in teaching, research, and the comprehensive study of Politics, Governance, and Political Thought. Established in 1956 with the commencement of the undergraduate BA programme, the department has a long-standing tradition of academic excellence and student development. The curriculum covers diverse areas of Political Science, including Political Theory, Indian Political Thought, Indian Government and Administration, International Relations, Comparative Politics, Human Rights, and Contemporary Political Issues, with an emphasis on critical thinking, analytical skills, and academic inquiry.
The department offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and Ph.D. programmes. The BA programme, introduced in 1956, offers 160 seats, while the MA programme, started in 2016, offers 50 seats each year. In 2022, the department further expanded its academic and research profile with the commencement of the Ph.D. programme, welcoming research scholars who pursue diverse areas of research under the able guidance of the faculty members.
The department regularly organizes seminars, workshops, conferences, invited lectures, presentations, and other academic activities that provide students with opportunities to interact with scholars and engage with contemporary debates in Political Science.
